Description
Eastern Kentucky University’s New Science Building houses the departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Physics and Astronomy, and Science Education and the division of Natural Areas. Functional areas include teaching labs, faculty and student research labs, classrooms, seminar rooms, offices, greenhouses, a clean room, and a café food service area.

Swope Design Group's designers worked alongside the project architect and school administrators to create a modern, highly functional learning environment. Responsibilities included the selection of furniture and finishes and the design of a custom identity and wayfinding signage program. Distinctive scientific imagery was employed to identify various departments and to aid navigation of the facility.
