Southside Elementary is a “21st Century Classroom” facility, designed for collaborative and independent learning that motivates students to be active participants in the learning process. Southside’s nationally recognized principal, Ms. Susie Burkhardt, directed the design team to create a learning environment that would expose students to a setting indicative of higher education. Interior materials were selected for their durability - appropriate for a building filled with energetic youngsters. Swope Design Group also coordinated furniture and various other finishes. Southside’s mascot, a striped tiger, was integrated into wall graphics, flooring, and signage to help foster school spirit.
