Howser Hall is a dormitory building, originally built in 1984 with a modern aesthetic. The dorm was in need of a comprehensive update. Swope Design Group worked in collaboration with project architect K Norman Berry Associates to select interior materials and finishes to brighten the interiors and create a fun, youthful environment. Low glare finishes and colors were specified to ensure that students and residents that are partially sighted will be comfortable. Materials of varying textures were selected to assist with wayfinding. These glare and textural considerations are in addition to the functional and operational attributes that Swope Design Group typically responds to.
