Description
The Galt House is an iconic hotel in downtown Louisville known for its premier location overlooking the Ohio River, unparalleled Derby time hospitality, and extensive convention and special events amenities.

In 2017 Swope Design Group was approached by the property’s owners to review concept presentations provided by a Houston hospitality firm and to select all interior finish materials, furniture, decorative lighting and accessories. Swope’s designers were asked to meet the design vision while facing the additional challenge of substantially reducing the budget.

The scale of the project was formidable and included over 1,200 guest rooms, multiple restaurants and bars, meeting rooms and ballrooms, lobbies in two towers and a Conservatory connecting the towers. The quick pace of the design process and construction schedule required the team of K. Norman Berry Associates Architects and Swope Design Group to collaborate seamlessly. Owing to Swope’s acquired knowledge of the project, their role expanded considerably as the project neared completion.

Unconventional building methodology and materials used in the original construction of the project coupled with the need for a style refresh, provided just the kind of challenge that Swope Design Group delights in tackling.

The newly transformed Galt House debuted officially in 2020 to rave reviews.
